Bub is why people still talk about this film. The pet zombie who picks up a razor, a book and a Walkman and slowly remembers being human, right up to the salute he throws Captain Rhodes at the end. That Walkman bit wasn't scripted. Sherman Howard, the man under the makeup, thought it up himself and pitched it to Romero on set. This 5-inch Bub keeps the gag going: squeeze his legs and he snaps off the same undead salute. Comes carrying his chain, pistol, razor, tape player and treat bucket.
