Elsa Lanchester pulled double duty in 1935's Bride of Frankenstein, playing both Mary Shelley in the prologue and the Monster's hissing mate, a part with barely three minutes of screen time that became horror royalty anyway. That lightning-streaked beehive and birdlike shriek are pure cinema.
