"Little wooden head, go play your part."
Christian Rub voiced Geppetto and then had to earn it twice, because Disney filmed him acting out the whole puppet dance as live-action reference for the animators. Every awkward shuffle on screen is a real Austrian man in a studio pretending to work marionette strings. That is the exact moment caught here, Geppetto up on the control bar with gold-coloured chain strings running down to Pinocchio on a wood-grain base. Balanced to stand on a shelf without needing a tree.
