Rex nearly wasn't Rex. Dave Filoni originally planned to call him Alpha, after the clone from the Republic comics, until it was pointed out the show already had an Anakin, an Ahsoka and an Amidala. Too many As. So Alpha became Rex, and the 501st got its captain. This is him in his Clone Wars kit, twin pistols, blond buzz cut, and a removable helmet with the jaig eyes painted on. Those markings are a Mandalorian honour for bravery. He earned them.
