In 1978 this was just the Death Star Droid, a chrome extra glimpsed in an Imperial corridor with no name and no lines. The RA-7 designation came decades later, once Star Wars grew the kind of fanbase that names the background robots. Kenner added him in the second wave, alongside the figures that filled out the 20-back card. The chrome was famously delicate. Forty-odd years of pockets and toy boxes have thinned it on most survivors.
