"Red Five standing by."
Before ILM had a frame in the can, Lucas cut together dogfight footage from old war films, The Dam Busters and 633 Squadron among them, and handed it over so the effects crew could see exactly what the trench run was meant to feel like. Two pilots here rather than one. Orange flight suits, moulded helmets with the red stripe, black life support vests, a blaster each and one tri-logo Jedi cardback with the bubble long gone. One of them flies a good deal cleaner than the other.
