Eastman and Laird picked the turtles' names out of an art history book, which is how four sewer ninjas ended up named after Renaissance masters. Donatello was always going to draw the comms job, so pairing him with Dial-Tone is barely a stretch. He gets the black cap, the purple webbing, a steel shell-pack on his back and an anti-sewer-scramblin' staff, which is a very silly name for a very nice accessory.
