The Short Version: No, Uncanny doesn't buy comics - we deal in toys, action figures and collections. But Sam Lemberger at WHAM! Comics Shop does, and he's who we point comic sellers to. He's the man to talk to if you want to sell comics in Ireland. Reach him on 083 069 9916 or info@whamcomicsshop.com, and we'll explain the two ways to do it below.
So you've got a box of comics in the attic and you're wondering who'll actually take them off your hands. Fair question. We get asked it a lot - and the honest answer is that it isn't us. But we know exactly who you should be talking to, so this isn't one of those dead-end "sorry, can't help" replies. Read on.
Quick Answers
Does Uncanny buy comics?
No. We buy toys, action figures and full collections - that's our wheelhouse. Comics aren't something we deal in, so rather than fumble it, we pass comic sellers straight to someone who knows the market.
Who buys comics in Ireland?
Sam Lemberger of WHAM! Comics Shop - someone we know well and send comic sellers to. He's always looking to buy, he knows what things are worth, and he's easy to deal with. His details are laid out below.
What comics does WHAM! want?
A bit of everything, with a soft spot for Panini titles. It's worth being realistic, though: most comics aren't worth a fortune. The bulk of them change hands for cents each and get resold second-hand for a couple of euro - only a small number are genuinely worth real money, and Sam's the one who can tell which is which. The titles he tends to pass on are Beano, Dandy and 2000AD.
Can I drop my comics to Uncanny?
Only after Sam's agreed to take them. The order matters: you square it with Sam first, and once he messages us to say he's happy with them, you can book an appointment to drop them to us and we'll get them to him. Nothing comes to us before Sam's said yes - and nothing turns up unannounced. More on that below.
Who pays for the comics - Uncanny or Sam?
Sam does. Sam values the comics and Sam pays for them. We're just the relay if you go the drop-off route - we don't approve, price, or buy anything.
Why Uncanny doesn't do comics
We'd rather be honest about what we're good at. Uncanny is a toys-and-figures shop at heart - that's the gear we know how to value, store and sell on. Comics are their own world: condition grading, print runs, variant covers, the lot. Pretending we could do that market justice would do you a disservice, and you'd likely get a worse deal. So we stay in our lane and send comic sellers to someone who lives in theirs.

What Sam buys (and what he doesn't)
Sam's happy to look at most things, with a soft spot for Panini titles - those are the ones to lead with if you've got them. Worth setting expectations, though: most comics aren't worth big money. The majority change hands for cents each and get resold second-hand for a couple of euro - only a small number are genuinely valuable. That doesn't mean they're not worth selling; it just means Sam's the one who can tell the everyday ones from the few worth more.
The titles he tends to pass on are Beano, Dandy and 2000AD, so those probably aren't worth the trip. Everything else, ask.
The two ways to sell
You've got two routes. Pick whichever suits you.
Route 1 - Contact Sam directly (recommended). Quickest and cleanest. Email info@whamcomicsshop.com or ring 083 069 9916, tell him what you've got, and he'll take it from there. He values it, he pays for it, done. No middleman.
Route 2 - Once Sam's agreed, drop them to Uncanny and we'll get them to him. This route only kicks in after you've squared it with Sam and he's told us he's happy to take them. With that done, you can drop the comics either at our Manorhamilton, Co. Leitrim drop-off point (Caz-Cards) or directly to Kim, by appointment. We pass them to Sam, Sam approves them, and Sam pays. We're just the relay - and only ever once Sam's said yes.
The drop-off rules - same for everything we take in
Whether it's comics for Sam or toys for us, the rules don't change:
- Nothing turns up unannounced. Ever.
- Everything's agreed first - WhatsApp +353 85 827 2191, email us at info@uncannycollectibles.com, or our socials.
- Appointments only. Sort a time before you travel.
- Paid on receipt. For comics, that's Sam paying - once he's seen and approved them.
It keeps things tidy for everyone and means nobody's left standing on a doorstep with a box and no plan.
Got toys or figures too? That bit's us
If your clear-out isn't only comics - say there are action figures, toys, or a whole mixed collection in there - that side is squarely our wheelhouse. We'll happily look at the toys and figures while Sam handles the comics. Have a read of what else we do and don't buy so you know before you sort the boxes, and get in touch when you're ready.
Right then - what next?
If it's comics: talk to Sam. Email info@whamcomicsshop.com, ring 083 069 9916, or visit WhamComicsShop.com. That's the fast route, and he's the one who values and pays.
If you'd rather drop them our way, square it with Sam first, then message Uncanny on WhatsApp +353 85 827 2191 or via our contact page to book a time once he's given the nod. Either way, you'll end up in good hands.
