"I wear the chain I forged in life."
Dickens knocked out A Christmas Carol in about six weeks in 1843, paid for the printing himself, and invented the modern Christmas ghost story in the process. Marley got the best bit of it: a dead man dragging the ledgers, cashboxes and keys he cared about more than people. Four Horsemen built that as a chain harness you clip on, and gave him a safe that actually opens, with something hidden inside it. A lovely thing to do to a collector.
