"Splashdown is the easy part."

Helicopter 66 fished the crews of Apollo 8, 10, 11, 12 and 13 out of the Pacific, which made it the most photographed helicopter on earth. It was a US Navy Sikorsky rather than a NASA aircraft, and Dinky put its exact squadron markings on this one in 1971. An AA battery slots in behind a hatch in the fuselage to drive the five-blade rotor, the thumbwheel winch winds by hand, and the white plastic Apollo capsule floats and hooks onto the cable. Made in England at Binns Road, a few years before the factory shut for good.
