"Left in the wilderness on purpose."
Outback's 1987 file card is the story of a man the army dropped into the middle of nowhere with a knife to see how long he would last, and the answer came back as indefinitely. This is the standard release, so he arrives the way he was always drawn, red hair, red beard and sunburn printed onto the face and forearms. The gear is what makes the character work: survival backpack, entrenching shovel, torch, pistol and a scoped rifle with a sling. The beard is doing serious work and it has earned every bit of it.
