He-Ro was meant to be the next big thing. In 1987 Mattel planned Powers of Grayskull, a prehistoric Preternia spin-off where this wizard would take the lead off He-Man, then pulled the plug before he was ever produced. One gold vac-metal prototype survived and fans waited until 2009 for an actual figure. Here he is in Origins at last with gold armour, red cape, grey gauntlets and a staff that spins open to show the green gem. The mini comic is called He-Ro's Journey.
