In Collodi's 1883 book, the talking cricket lectures Pinocchio for about a page and then gets flattened with a hammer. Disney kept him breathing and gave him a top hat. This laughing Disney Showcase Jiminy from Enesco has had a rougher time than that: his raised hand has snapped clean off at the wrist. The hand is included, so a dab of glue and he is back to laughing.
