"Still smells like 1980."
Strawberry Shortcake started life on an American Greetings card in 1979, and by 1980 Kenner had her on toy shelves smelling of actual strawberries. Kids sniffed those dolls like it was their job. Boss Fight Studio kept the scent, which is either nostalgia or a trap. She is back in the pink bonnet, the patchwork apron and the green striped stockings, with a hat that comes off and her cat Custard sitting at her feet looking thoroughly unimpressed. She poses. She smells of fruit. Custard judges.
