Tobe Hooper's 1974 nightmare convinced a generation it was based on true events, when really it was low-budget Texas heat, a cast pushed past breaking point, and Gunnar Hansen swinging a very real chainsaw. That infamous dinner scene took something like 26 hours to shoot in stifling heat surrounded by rotting props, and Hansen reportedly kept the mask on for the whole shoot so he never broke character. Mezco's 5 Points Leatherface turns up in the bloodstained apron, collared shirt and tie, chainsaw gripped in both hands. Carded retro-style for the shelf.
