Tobe Hooper has said the idea arrived while he was stuck in a crowded hardware shop at Christmas, staring at a display of chainsaws and working out how to get through the crowd. The Killing face is the rawest of Leatherface's three masks, the one he wears while the saw is actually running. Trick or Treat Studios built this from film assets, so the warps and creases match the screen prop, then moulded it in lightweight plastic on an elastic strap. Pegboard Halloween, far nastier pedigree.
