"Meesa called Jar Jar Binks."

Ahmed Best performed Jar Jar on set in a full costume so the cast had something real to act against, then ILM replaced him frame by frame. Jar Jar was the first fully computer generated lead character in a live action film, which is a lot of history for one very annoying amphibian. Hasbro's 1999 electronic version stands a foot tall, talks back at you and flings an energy ball. The whole Episode 1 fever in one 30cm box, meesa-speak and all.
