Somebody had to drive the walkers. Phil Tippett's team animated those AT-ATs one frame at a time on the ILM stage, inching model legs across a plaster snowfield, weeks of work for a sequence that makes the Rebels look finished inside half a minute. This is the fella at the controls. Grey field uniform, black gloves, goggles pushed up on the helmet, and the easy calm of a man whose vehicle is the biggest thing on the battlefield.
