Jack Kirby put a fair bit of himself into Ben Grimm, the tough kid from Yancy Street who ended up the ugliest and best loved member of the Fantastic Four. In 2002 Marvel confirmed what readers had suspected for decades, that Ben is Jewish, in a story where he says the Sh'ma over a dying shopkeeper. Eaglemoss caught him mid-scowl with both fists clenched, every rock plate picked out by hand on the black display base.
